      In this national park, different from any other around, you will visit Halema’uma’u Crater, volcanic steam vents, the educational Kīlauea Visitor Center, miles of Thurston Lava Tube, and Volcano House, where views of the crater are transformational. Madame Pele has been busy lately, and if she's around, you can peer down into the Halema’uma’u caldera to see the lava lakes.

      See Kīlauea Iki Overlook, Kealakomo Overlook, and Devastation Trail. We will stop at a signature Big Island snack spot to grab a locally made treat and a sweet snack for later. Then, explore the flora and fauna of tropical gardens. Here, guests may enjoy a sit-down meal for purchase (not included).

      As we head back to Hilo, you will see the famous Rainbow Falls as color fills the mist around the twin cascading 80-foot waterfalls.

      Explanation

      Fly from O'ahu to Hilo on this Hawai'i Island Helicopter Tour and discover Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park! The airfare is included in the price. On this comprehensive volcano adventure tour, you will explore cascading waterfalls, volcanic craters and lava tubes, and the historic city of Hilo. The Kīlauea Visitor Center has park updates and fascinating educational displays to enjoy. We will share the story and show you where the 2018 eruption drastically altered the island’s landscape. Peer into the depths of Halemaʻumaʻu Crater, which has doubled in size, and watch steam clouds form as groundwater seeps onto a hot volcanic rock at the famous Steam Vents. We will also drive down the scenic Chain of Craters Road – which was partially covered during the 2018 eruption.

      While in the air during your 45-minute helicopter tour you will marvel at the spectacular Rainbow Falls and gaze at sweeping coastal views of Kealakomo Overlook, where older lava flows melted into the ocean. Waterfalls, rainforests, and impressive craters await you on this flight. Volcanic eruptions are not guaranteed and may not be occurring when you arrive.

      Our sightseeing tour includes a tour of Hilo Town – Including Banyan Drive, Richardson’s Black Sand Beach & Liliʻuokalani Gardens. We will have time to stop and enjoy some treats at the Mac Nut Factory, a great place for lunch (purchased on your own).

      The day ends with a flight back to Honolulu or Maui. After a full day of sightseeing the best of the Big Island, you will return to your hotel.

      Seating for parties of more than 6, or weighing a combined 1000 lbs, will be seated across multiple aircraft. Please provide accurate body weights, as our ability to execute tours depends on this.

      We will no longer provide car seats for children on our Big Island tours. Guests traveling with young children must bring their own car seats.

      Rules

      There are no cash refunds on neighbor-island day trips. There are fees for changing the tour and because it involves airline flights, any changes are subject to their policy.

      If the helicopter tour must be canceled by the company for any reason, guests will be refunded for the helicopter tour and the rest of the tour continues as planned.

      Guests may opt for an early return and receive a refund for the helicopter tour portion. All other costs/change fees will be the responsibility of the guest(s).

      There is a 72-hour cancellation policy for a credit refund.

        Yes, the interisland flight is included in the tour price. However, keep in mind that all ticket sales are final, and any changes to your flight schedule will incur additional charges that you'll need to cover.

      • Are Meals Included In The Tour?

        During the tour, you'll have the chance to try various restaurants at picturesque stops. While breakfast and lunch aren't part of the tour package, they'll be available for purchase. Make sure to sweeten your trip with a visit to either Big Island Candies Factory or Mauna Loa Nut Factory for delightful treats!

      • How Is Seating Arranged? Can I Sit Up Front?

        Seating on the tour is done based on weight and balance to ensure a safe and comfortable flight for everyone. If you'd like to guarantee a seat in the front row, you can purchase and secure one when you make your reservation for an additional fee. Also, please note that for each guest weighing 240 pounds or more, an adjacent empty seat must be purchased to comply with weight and balance regulations.
